Joint Kitty
For the payment of:
- common meals during the tour
- common expenses for the group
- tips for staff who take care of us like local guides, drivers and room maids
In order to avoid having to make these payments individually every time, we will make a Joint Kitty. The amount of the Joint Kitty is mentioned at every tour description.
The Joint
Kitty will be collected by the Tour Leader at the start of the tour.
Payment has to be done cash in US Dollars or in Euro. The settlement and
justification follows at the end of the tour by the Tour Leader.
Tips
If you are satisfied about a provided service, you can show your appreciation with a tip. One dollar is nothing for you, but can mean a lot for local people. Many staff in hotels and restaurants, local guides, drivers and porters are dependant on tips for their income. There is no minimum wage and no social security in many countries in Asia.
Guideline for tips is:
- local guides: 1 $ to 1,5 $ per person per day, after good work and satisfaction
- drivers: 0,5 $ to 1 $ per person per day, after good work and satisfaction
- room maids: 0,5 $ to 1 $ per room, depending on the hotel and service
- bell boys: 0,5 $ to 1 $ per bag, depending on the distance
It is also custom for the Tour Leader to get a "reward" after the tour and guideline for the tip of a Tour Leader is (minimum) 1 to 2 Euro per day of the tour per person when the guests are satisfied about the work of the Tour Leader. The tip for the Tour Leader is not included in the Joint Kitty.
