Travel Insurance
A travel insurance is compulsory for all participants of our tours. Without insurance we cannot let you join the tour.
A travel insurance policy to cover illness and injury, cancellation and curtailment of your journey, theft, loss of personal items like baggage and tickets, etc. is a necessity.
The insurance policy should also cover emergency medical evacuation and repatriation of a body.
You should make sure that it covers you for all of the activities that you’ll be doing whilst on tour. Not all insurance policies are the same - some, more basic insurance policies don’t cover things like diving, motor riding, mountain climbing, etc., so you need to make sure that you have the appropriate level of cover if you plan to do one of these activities. The travel insurance which is provided as a free extra by most credit card companies is, in our experience, inadequate. It does not provide the necessary level of cover and we strongly recommend that you take out a proper travel insurance policy.
Make sure that family or friends at home know the address and telephone number of your insurance company and your insurance policy number.
Find out in advance if your insurance policy will make payments to the providers or reimburse you later for overseas health expenses. If you have to make a claim, you should keep all receipts (in English if possible) for medicines and medical treatment.
If you have anything stolen and you want to make an insurance claim you must obtain an official statement from the police.
