The adventure of traveling by public transport in China.
Travelers who are truly yearning for a real life adventure should try the public busses in China at least once. It is already an adventure to find the bus station where the busses supposedly are parked which hopefully are going to the destination you had planned to go.
The second step will be buying your ticket and being on the right time at the right place. If you don’t speak Chinese, your pronunciation of every city sounds almost the same..

To know the time of departure isn’t getting any easier but your watch can be your answer to this problem. Should you buy the ticket in advance or upon departure? With the risk that the bus is full or that the best places are already sold out.
We decided to buy our ticket the next day but when we arrived the next morning the bus station was still closed. We found our bus but it would be leaving before the ticket office would open. Nobody had informed us about this… No problem said the driver, with his hands and his facial expressions; “you buy the ticket with me in the bus”. For us no problem but what when they change the driver? This happens on some routings. We were lucky, this driver stayed with us all day and at every passport or ticket control check, he came to our rescue. We had much more problems finding out if he had dropped us at our destination in the early morning surrounded by heavy fog. Luckily we were at our planned destination.
Traveling by boat or train is also this adventurous!
